A heat dome is currently causing temperatures to rise in the northern hemisphere. From Japan, to the United States via Europe, many countries are confronted with extreme temperatures.

Long boulevards transformed into a scorching desert. In Arizona (USA), oppressive heat is an enemy. Living outside, even for a few minutes, is impossible. “It is so hot. I feel like I’m being poured hot sauce down my back”, says a man. In the western United States, it’s 46 degrees in Phoenix, and over 54 degrees are expected in California’s Death Valley.

Fire hazard

In Europe, it is 41 degrees in Greece. For the third consecutive time, the Acropolis will close during the day, because the temperatures cause discomfort among tourists. In Spain, peaks of 42 degrees are expected. The Canary Island is also affected by the fires. In Morocco, meteorologists expect 47 degrees. “Typically, these episodes last between a week and ten days. But human influence increases the duration of these phenomena.specifies Christophe Cassou, climatologist.
