In Paris, it was 36.7° C on Saturday June 18, so the objective of the day in the capital was to seek freshness at all costs.

At the foot of the Iron Lady, in Paris, there are crowds in the basins. The purpose of the day is to cool off. The kids loved the paddling pools. “As the water is cold, it feels good”says a little girl. “It feels good and you can buy ice cream”adds another. At the Jardin d’acclimatation, the number of visitors increases by 70% with such heat. “I knew when I was a kid and I thought that with the peak of heat, it would be fun for the children to come”says a father.

The foggers are gradually gaining the capital. Heat waves will be twice as many by 2050, so we have to prepare. “The temperature in Paris has already increased by 2.3°C compared to the 1.1°C on average worldwide. We now know more or less the climate of the future, it will be the climate of Seville, so we have to adapt and go much faster on the ecological transformation of our city”explains Dan Letdeputy mayor of Paris in charge of ecological transition. Parisians rush to museums, cinemas and shopping centers to escape apartments that are too hot.
