The fire is under control, but still under surveillance. At Freyssennet, pclose to Privas (Ardeche)25 hectares of vegetation went up in smoke on Friday 17 June. The firefighters are still mobilized on Saturday 18 to avoid resumptions. They water all the glowing stumps. In all, the firefighters had to deal with a dozen fires simultaneously in the department of Ardèche. No victims and no homes were affected, but the concern is great for the hours to come.

“It will be very hot and the wind is turning so we risk having a few departures in the unburnt ones which we will have to deal with early to prevent this from spreading quickly”believes Chief Warrant Officer Vincent Chanel Ardèche firefighters. Drought, heat wave, wind… the department is experiencing an exceptional situation for a month of June. Conditions that residents say do not usually meet until the end of July.
