Heat engines | Mazda, Subaru and Toyota want to increase efficiency

The Japanese brands Mazda, Subaru and Toyota want to keep the thermal engine alive, despite the gradual electric shift currently taking place.

It was within the framework of a joint press conference that these manufacturers promised last week to design new generation engines that are more efficient and whose electrical support will be optimized. The avenues of so-called carbon-neutral fuels as well as liquid hydrogen are also being considered by them to reduce their footprint.

It is also argued that the aerodynamics of vehicles will be improved by the use of these more compact engines which allow a lowered hood line.

A declaration of intent, therefore, that we want to complement the promised electric vehicles. It will be very interesting to observe how this dynamic will be reconciled with increasingly restrictive standards in terms of electrification.
