The supporters gathered at Citizens Bank Park had little action to get their hands on in the first seven bouts. The visitors, however, managed the first stroke of brilliance in their eighth turn at bat.

With two runners on the trails, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. kicked an offering from pitcher Seranthony Dominguez out of bounds. He thus hit his 30th home run of the season.

The crowd favorites responded immediately, first with JT Realmuto’s solo homer, then with one-run singles from Dalton Guthrie and Kyle Schwarber.

Matt Vierling, in the 10th inning, drove in the winning run with a single over Adam Cimber (10-6).

Jays starter Kevin Gausman had given his team a great start, however, as he already had six strikeouts out of a possible six after two innings. He was finally retired after six innings of work, leaving eight opponents in total to bite the dust. He gave up no runs on five hits and two walks.

However, the visitors had every possible chance to take victory. Twice, in the eighth and tenth innings respectively, they were able to fill the trails with just one out. However, they were never able to realize one of their chances.

Canada’s only Major League Baseball team will now head to Florida to face the Tampa Bay Rays in a four-game series from Thursday to Sunday.
