Autumn arrives Saturday September 23. Despite the days getting shorter, how can you keep your spirits up? Doctor and journalist Damien Mascret answers you.

With the arrival of fall, keeping your spirits up is not always easy. On the set of 13 Heures, Friday September 22, journalist and doctor Damien Mascret noted : “It’s true that a lot of people have what’s called seasonal affective disorder. […] It ranges from simple mental fatigue to real depression which, in our latitudes, affects up to 3 people out of 100 each year.” So how to fix it? The first tip is to expose yourself to light. “The ideal is to receive at least 10,000 lux per day”explains the health professional who recommends going out, even on cloudy days.

A balanced diet

The second tip is to keep pace with activities.Researchers from Nashville (UNITED STATES) calculated that we had an average of 29 minutes of physical activity [en moins] compared to summer. However, physical activity is not only good for health, but also reduces stress andanxiety”, underlines Damien Mascaret. Finally, he ensures that it is necessary to maintain “a balanced diet” by consuming in particular “more fruits and vegetables”.
