A Korean study has demonstrated the benefits of walking in people over 85 years old. Ten minutes a day would clearly suffice to reduce mortality. Journalist Damien Mascret was on the 19/20 set to take stock of this practice.
Doctors have been hammering it for several years that walking is good for your health. Korean doctors have just demonstrated this scientifically. “This new study, which will be unveiled on Sunday at the European Congress of Cardiology, indeed shows that even after 85, especially after 85, a little physical exercise is excellent for your health. First, there is has an immediate benefit for the bones, the muscles, the brain, the heart… But this also translates into a reduction in mortality. With only 1 hour of moderate physical activity per week or 10 minutes per day, we decrease by 40 % their risk of dying compared to someone the same age who does nothing”summarizes Damien Mascret.
Moderate physical activity which can be “cycling, swimming, light gardening, brisk walking or just dancing. In short, any physical activity that makes you a bit out of breath, but not so much that you can’t talk. You should never force it. And then don’t forget that one hour a week can be split up. It’s even better! For example, a short 10-minute walk a day or, why not, two rocks or three waltzes every evening. good for balance and joints!”concludes the journalist.
