Monday October 2 will open a free campaign for 5th grade students regarding the papillomavirus vaccine. Only 45% of 15-year-old girls and 6% of boys are vaccinated, due to lack of knowledge of the subject and the risks.

At 64, Denis Godefroy is infected with papillomavirus which is the cause of his tonsil cancer. He was diagnosed two and a half years ago. “YOU you say what is happening? Am I going to get through this?”, he confides. The origin of the contamination remains an enigma for him. After three chemotherapies, he wants to encourage young people to get vaccinated. This upheaval, Anne Heraud also experienced it.

6,400 cancers are attributed to the papillomavirus each year

She was barely 24 years old when the papillomavirus caused pre-cancerous cells to appear in her uterus. “I went to see the gynecologist because I had burns, I had discomfort,” she says. Anne had surgery, but even today she has to monitor her health. “The condom is not enough to protect yourself from it (…). If we talk more, it will become less taboo and less anxiety-inducing.” she believes. In France, every year, 6,400 cancers are attributed to papillomavirus.
