The arrival of two general practitioners in a medical desert in the Channel creates misunderstanding in another department, Sarthe. This is where these doctors come from and the commune also lacks medical personnel.

The town of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue (Handle) does not lack assets, it is undoubtedly what seduced the two new doctors of the commune. A move that does not pass with the inhabitants of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe (Sarthe)city where the doctors come from. “They had lots of clients here, so it’s a bit of abandoning them anyway, because there are no other doctors in Fresnay”said a resident.

In the Sarthe, it is misunderstanding for the inhabitants because doctors received help from Medicare to settle down, a substantial check of nearly 94,000 euros. “It’s a bit of a windfall effect all the same”retorts Fabienne Labrette-Householdmayor (LR) of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe. But health insurance confirms that the installation bonus exists for all of the doctors. For the mayor of Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, everything was done according to the rules. Contacted by the France Télévisions teams, the doctors concerned did not wish to speak.
