Thursday, August 4, the heat wave continues to descend on France. 26 departments remain on orange alert. Although temperatures begin to drop, organisms are bruised by the heat.

The mercury continues to happily exceed 30°C on Thursday August 4th. For the inhabitants of Lyon (Rhône), this threshold was crossed in July and the temperature is not weakening, unlike organisms which suffer the consequences of the heat. “I accumulate fatigue, suddenly, I am in a bad mood”, reacted a Lyonnaise. For some, high temperatures have more serious consequences. “My husband, yesterday, had vagal discomfort and it was probably due to the heat”laments a local resident.

This new heatwave episode leads many people to the doctor as in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin). These repeated heat waves can have strong repercussions, especially on people with heart problems. “I work slowly and I mustn’t make too much effort because I get out of breath very quickly”worries Jean-Philippe Koscher, a patient. “We see that it is mainly the elderly and children who suffer from the heat”, reports Rachel Neff, general practitioner in Strasbourg. Outings during the hottest hours are not recommended, while staying well hydrated is essential.
