Health: the flu epidemic is progressing

While the flu epidemic progresses in France, Friday January 5, not everyone is vaccinated. The indicators are red in all regions of the metropolis, except in Normandy, Brittany and Pays de la Loire. In Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), the emergency rooms of the CHU are saturated. “Vaccination coverage is not very high, it affects a population that is less well medicalized”explains Professor Sandrine Charpentier, head of the emergency department at Rangueil University Hospital and president of the French Society of Emergency Medicine.

The importance of barrier gestures

Since Covid-19, vigilance has relaxed and doctors are recalling the importance of barrier measures, such as masks. “If you do not want to be vaccinated, use barrier gestures again”, indicates Professor Philippe Amouyel, epidemiologist and professor of public health. While hospitalizations are on the rise, the flu peak is expected in the coming weeks.
