While several pharmacies are experiencing difficulties in supplying paracetamol-based medicines, pharmacists must now ration their sales to two boxes of paracetamol per person in order to avoid a overstocking which could create a shortage.

Several pharmacies across France are experiencing supply difficulties. Among the drugs that are becoming increasingly rare, there are those based on paracetamol. Stock shortages concerning syrups or sachets. But do not panic, warn pharmacists: it should not be overstock and create a shortage.

To avoid the shortage, they must now ration two boxes of paracetamol per person. If these preventive measures are reinforced as winter approaches, they were already in reality effective since last July for some of them. There is therefore no question of speaking of a shortage for the moment, but this economic situation combines with a problem which is itself more structural: the active ingredient of paracetamol is no longer produced in France.
