It is estimated that each year approximately 75,000 children are born with a neurodevelopmental disorder. The government presented, Monday, November 7, new ways to detect it. The important thing is to detect them as soon as possible. Present on the 12/13 set, journalist and doctor Damien Mascret explains why.

It is important to detect as early as possible if a child has autism for two reasons. “First to avoid a delay in diagnosis. Then, because identification in early childhood allows early care, which will improve the development of the child”, explains the journalist and doctor Damien Mascret, present on the set of 12/13, Monday, November 7. The government has therefore produced a guide to help parents.

“This guide will allow them to note the behavior of the child and then show it, like a health book, to the doctor, so that he can decide what to do”continues the journalist. Indeed, signs can alert parents by age group. “At 6 months, for example, a child seizes, grabs an object that is offered to him, smiles when he is smiled at, and babbles. At 12 months, he can sit up on his own, move on the floor on his own and turn his head to look when called”describes Damien Mascret. This is not enough to make a diagnosis but “we will have to do tests to find out if it’s just a delay or a developmental disorder”he advises.
