IVG remains the subject of fantasies and rumors, such as that which links abortion to infertility. So, true or false ?
On social networks, many messages warn women of the supposed dangers of abortion. So, does it affect fertility? It’s wrong. IVG has no consequences on women’s fertility, says the National College of Gynecologists, in a report dated 2016. “Instrumental abortion is not associated with an increased risk of subsequent infertility”, it is written there.
Same conclusion of the High Authority of Health
Clearly, a woman having an abortion will not have any more difficulty getting pregnant again. This is also the conclusion of the High Authority of Health, which already explained this in 2001, concerning medical and instrumental abortion: “All studies that have assessed the risk of later infertility suggest that there is no increased risk in the country where abortion is legal.”
So, who is disseminating this information on social networks? The Women’s Foundation, which looked into the subject, reveals in a report that several networks are behind these criticisms of abortion. The content is most often spread by profiles close to the extreme right, or pro-life movements.
