It is a recommendation, but not an obligation. French health authorities recommended Thursday, February 9 to vaccinate all children over two years of age against seasonal flu. The High Authority for Health (HAS) wishes “that vaccination against seasonal influenza be integrated into the vaccination schedule to be offered each year to children without comorbidities aged 2 to 17 years old, without making it compulsory”she announced in a press release.

The authority notably highlighted the collective interest of such a measure without however asking that it be compulsory. “The objective is to allow its reimbursement and to limit the spread and impact of the flu on the population”, writes the HAS. It specifies that the five existing vaccines can be used, but the authority expressed a preference for the one which is administered by nasal spray.
