Cléon-d’Andran, in the Drôme, is a village of 900 inhabitants which has managed to attract 6 doctors. A feat possible thanks to the grouping of health professionals in the same pole.
In the village of Cléon-d’Andran (Drome)900 inhabitants and six doctors. An impressive ratio for such a small town. The health center, created four years ago, brings together all the doctors in the sector. Paul Faye, 34, moved there two years ago. “Today, we favor health centers more like here, where there are more of us, which allows us to have more equipment, medical secretaries“, he confides.
Another doctor was attracted by these working conditions. Previously, she managed her patients alone in a remote village. Today, she feels supported and knows that she can be replaced in case of impediment. To attract doctors to the countryside, it is not obligatory to force them, but simply to group them together and accompany them. “We started from the premise that we wanted something to be imposed on us. We were facilitated by our town hall in Cléon-d’Andran, but it is a private project that was carried out by health professionals”explains Sebastian Roubinetco-founder of the health division of the Valdaine. The average age of doctors is now 40, compared to 65 previously.
