A study, published in an American scientific journal, suggests that fried foods have potentially negative impacts on mental health and thus increase the risk of depression.
In Calais (Pas-de-Calais), fries are a must. “I feel happy because I like fries”said a woman. “It’s a heritage, for me, it’s eating heritage”continues a man. However, according to an American scientific study, conducted on 140,000 people for 11 years, eating fries would increase the risk of being anxious, even depressive.
The important thing is to eat a balanced diet
Conclusions that the managers of a chip shop find difficult to believe. “A little fries on the edge of the beach and it will make you smile for the whole day”says Marine Poumaer, head of the chip shop. Even among nutritionists, the study is debated. For a dietician, the important thing is above all not to abuse pleasure foods. “If 70% of the meals of the week are rather balanced (…), go eat fries from time to time, there is nothing wrong”explains Cécile Fanchon, dietitian-nutritionist.
