Les Écrans de l'Aventure is an event organized by the La Guilde association and the city of Dijon. This festival highlights documentaries and travel stories from around the world. (THE ADVENTURE SCREENS)

All weekend until Sunday evening, Dijon beats to the rhythm of its thrilling festival, The Adventure Screens. More than 5,000 festival-goers will have participated in this event since October 1st. “It’s the festival to come together around all the adventures, the human adventure, the sporting adventure, in nature and the adventure of life in general”, explains the event coordinator, Éric Carpentier.

Literary meetings, conferences, workshops and film screenings, for this 33rd edition, the festival put 14 documentaries in competition, relating to expeditions in extreme environments (Arctic, desert, high mountains), sporting challenges or cultural discoveries. With a jury chaired by mountaineer Catherine Destivelle.

“Adventure to grow up”this is the theme chosen this year. Among the expected films: The last summitchronicle of a 40-day expedition by mountaineer Sophie Lavaud who set out to attack a highly coveted summit: Nanga Parbat which peaks at 8,126 meters, in northern Pakistan. The film is also fascinating In the land of mists by Sophie Planque, who set off by bike to experience the Baltic winter, to meet those who keep these ancestral cultures alive. The public will also discover The return of the giant in which the falconer, Jacques-Olivier Travers, talks about the reintroduction, into the skies of France, of the largest eagle in Europe: the white-tailed eagle.

The screens of adventure, an event which can be a starting point for making your dreams come true, in particular thanks to the La Guilde association which organizes it alongside the city of Dijon, and which supports solidarity and cultural projects. “We can apply for adventure grants, we can get involved in international volunteering, we can set up micro-solidarity projects, we have a whole world opening up to which the festival is the gateway” , continues Eric Carpentier.

“Walk to the star, even if it is too high, don’t take your eyes off it. It will take you far, without fatigue and without difficulty.”

This quote from travel writer Alexandra David-Neel is a nice summary of the state of mind of the festival which is also aimed at juniors. With in particular the presence of the adventurer Antoine de Suremain who introduces them to France in his show “Antoine the Adventure” on Canal+ kids.

As a family, you can also attend an original conference which presents all the little-known heroines of aviation and airmail. Pioneers who have sometimes surpassed the exploits of Mermoz, Guillaumet and Saint-Exupéry.

“Festival-goers will therefore be able to climb, walk, dream, progress during the festival”summarizes Eric Carpentier.
