Heading for the “Atmospheres” eco-friendly festival in Courbevoie

“Atmosphere, atmosphere…” Does this committed and general public festival have a mouthful? Yes, there is! His credo? Talking about ecology through science and culture.

Astrophysicist Hubert Reeves, climatologist Jean Jouzel and physicist Michel Spiro are taking part in this event which aims to be optimistic but lucid. Its founder, the director Pascal Signolet, had the idea after the Erika oil spill which in 1999 caused an ecological disaster on 400 km of coast in Brittany.

“In reality, he confides, there were no festivals that spoke of sustainable development in the full meaning of the term, that is to say from the economic, ecological, environmental point of view. So we combined cinema, art, science, but also experience through a village, to raise awareness and make them want to act.”

The festival village “Atmospheres” is installed in front of the events center of the town hall of Courbevoie. Everything is free. Starting with the cinema, with the screening of 18 films, including that of the director Arthur Gosset, who followed for a year the journey of six young people from major schools that have chosen to give up a traditional course for a life they deem more compatible with current environmental and societal challenges.

Whether “Cinema is a powerful mobilization lever”according to director Mathieu Kassovitz, one of the sponsors of the event, the festival also mixes art and science with spectacle: “A Saturday Night on Earth”. Presented and directed by former weather journalist Sébastien Folin, this show brings together, among other specialists, physicist Étienne Klein, astronomer Jean-Pierre Bibring and glaciologist Heidi Sevestre. We are promised scenes that will make our neurons and our heart beat in unison, between emotions and reflections.

In honor also, the music! With directories that address social and environmental topics, including “The Running Noise Choir”. Anaïs Rosso, who made her debut in the metro, will also perform there. These concerts also aim to attract young people.

“More and more of them are coming to the festival, observes Pascal Signolet. Many say they were born with this Damocles sword of climate change, of biodiversity loss, so we try to work on that to try to find hope, and above all, to build.”

From the age of 8, children set off to conquer the red planet aboard a space shuttle thanks to the Escape Game “Mission Mars”. At the Galinette educational farm, they discover a whole unknown part of the farming world. So sharing knowledge and experiences yes, but keeping the part of the dream! “This is essential in this mobilization work. If we don’t have it, we lose a lot to make people want to act”, concludes the founder of this event.
