Quebecor Media revealed on Wednesday the course of the Head-to-head Quebec 2022 and the topics that will be covered.

From 8 p.m. on Thursday, the oral contest hosted by Pierre Bruneau will tackle “three themes” each composed of “three blocks”, divided as follows:

  • The environment, quality of life and the economy
  • Health, family and education
  • Immigration, language and identity

Each block will begin with an open debate between all the candidates, then will follow exchanges in pairs, whose participants will be determined at random.

Due to the presence of an odd number of leaders, one of them will then have the chance to intervene twice in each “block”. Again, it has been randomly determined which leader will be able to intervene twice in each block.

We will not know before the start of the debate which leaders will compete on which themes, the selection of which is an editorial choice of TVA Nouvelles. The debate will conclude with a round table, after which the leaders will have one minute each to address the voters directly.

Last June, the “Vire au vert” collective called for a leaders’ debate on the climate crisis during the next campaign, judging that the place reserved for this issue in the current context was not sufficient.

The coalition is made up of several environmental groups, such as Équiterre, the Quebec Association of Physicians for the Environment (AQME), the David Suzuki Foundation, Greenpeace, Eau Secours, Nature Quebec and the Society for Nature and Parks (SNAP Quebec ).

Remember that the second debate, organized by Radio-Canada, must take place on September 22.
