Head in the sand

Atmospheric and ocean temperatures reached record highs last March and polar glaciers are melting at great speed. Life is threatened everywhere and a sixth great extinction of species is predicted. To make matters worse, belief in science and reason is declining to make way for an uninhibited right-wing populism that espouses the most outlandish theses while seducing part of the population. These people are not even aware of the real issues and the seriousness of our collective abandonment towards self-destruction, towards which we are blithely following suit without changing our way of life.

At the end of the day, all this evolution, all this scientific progress will only have served this ultimate outcome? All that for this ?

When I was young, I was quite confident in the future and believed that humanity would eventually make the right choices when the time came. This hypothesis still remains to be demonstrated. But time plays against her, and against us, as long as we remain, like ostriches, threatened with extinction, with our heads in the sand…
