“He was fired”, “He told me we will never do a cover with you because you are Black”, Magloire weighs in on a big boss

The general public loved him in the “Morning Live”, In “Shovel and Rake”, and more recently in “Fort Boyard”. At 54, Magloire has built a solid career in television, despite obstacles. On April 16, 2024, he admitted to Gilles Ganzmann and Valérie Expert that he had suffered a lot of discrimination because of the color of his skin, his weight, as well as his sexual orientation.

“We will never do TV coverage with you because you are black”

Regarding the first, Magloire detailed: “Listen, I’m going to tell you something. 25 years ago, a boss of the editorial staff of Le Figaro, who was fired elsewhere, told me ‘we will never do TV coverage with you because you are black’ and who explained to me that with Yannick Noah, it’s complicated. Well and so.”

And to add, with a touch of humor, always: “He told me that to my face, during lunch, so my eggs and mayonnaise went bad for sure. And so, but hey, it doesn’t matter. Racism.” What he understood from this incident, Magloire reported this Tuesday, summarizing: “Because on the cover, it was less done at the time, it has evolved a lot today and so much the better“.

But in addition to this first discrimination, Michael Youn’s ex partner admits: “The racism from which I suffered was rather the fact that I was fat. Yes, obesity was. I bring together all the possible discriminations“. Regarding his size, he confides: “It’s difficult, I’ve already been asked to lose weight”. And added: “This is something I would do purely for my health.“, says that following a heart attack in 2017, he decided to pay a little more attention to his diet.

“We know it, we know it, we deal with it. And we impose it nicely”

The Paf star, who did not want to name anyone during this discussion, also assured: “we know very well that this discrimination exists. As much as we know it, we know it, we deal with it. And we impose nicely, that’s it”. A lot of courage.
