Norway: he sculpts instruments directly from the ice

Tuesday March 19, the 13 Hours teams followed a musician who carves his musical instruments in Norwegian ice.

In an igloo nestled on the top of a Norwegian mountain, musician Terj Isungset transforms water into melody. After extracting ice from a frozen lake, the inventor of “ice music” proceeds to shape it by carving musical instruments from blocks of frozen water. Terj Isungset discovered these unique sounds more than 25 years ago, during a concert in front of a frozen waterfall. From now on, the artist sculpts the notes in ice and organizes a festival every year.

An exceptional venue for an extraordinary concert

This year, the musician has chosen to place his unique instruments in an exceptional location. Namely, in an igloo. Throughout the concert organized in front of around forty curious people, the instruments melt and produce new sounds.
