Jacky, a 78-year-old baker in Burgundy, is returning to work in the same bakery which he made famous for twenty years, before retiring in 2005.

His bakery hadn’t been used for years. For a week now, he has regained all his activity, thanks to Jacky Doussot, a baker who will soon celebrate his 79th birthday. After 18 years in retirement, this baker remained the owner of the premises and the business. In the absence of a buyer, he decided to relaunch his activity out of necessity and passion. “To see everything closed, no more activity, nothing, passing by every day… I made this decision, I don’t know if it’s the right one”he says with emotion.

Admiring customers and employees

The medium-term objective: to be able to sell his bakery. For this, he surrounded himself with people he knew. Employees and customers salute his determination. “The guy is inflated, because I wouldn’t have done it. And yet, I was a trader for 30 years”, said a resident. At 78, the baker also commands the admiration of his customers. Good news for the town of 2,000 inhabitants, which for a long time had only one bakery, and which now has three.
