Jacques Delors “leaves an immense political legacy”greets the first secretary of the Socialist Party Olivier Faure on Wednesday December 27 on franceinfo after the announcement of the death of the former minister of François Mitterrand and president of the European Commission at the age of 98.

“He was one of those who both allowed the left to come to power, who allowed it to find its balance in power, and then he was this immense president of the European Commission. Contemporary Europe him owes a lot”declares Olivier Faure.

Favorite in the polls, Jacques Delors had given up on running in the 1995 presidential election.I don’t want to repeat historyreacted Olivier Faure. He was a man of conviction and he wanted to carry his convictions first, before being a man of power. I think it also made him give up on what he thought was a pointless ordeal.” Jacques Delors left the Socialist Party with “inalienable European beliefs”believes the current boss of the PS.

“He was the child of the last century. He was 98 years old, so he knew everything about it, the vicissitudes, the tragedies. And he had in mind the fact of allowing young Europeans to live in a territory which is a territory prosperous, in peace.”

“For him, this particularly unique architecture in the world, this Europe in which no one believed at the start, was certainly the most extraordinary political event of the past century”continued Olivier Faure.

“A great figure in the arrival of the left to power and a great architect of European construction is leaving us this evening”greets on X the former socialist minister Patrick Kanner and senator from the North. “Infinite respect”adds the president of the socialist, environmentalist and republican group in the Senate which addresses its “warm thoughts for Martine Aubry”.
