“He kept telling me I looked fat!”

A highly anticipated book. On October 24, 2023, The Woman in Me is expected in all bookstores. A work which already promises to be explosive if we are to believe the few extracts that Britney Spears has already revealed from this autobiography.

“I actually envy people who know how to make fame work for them. My behavior was innocent, it wasn’t premeditated. I didn’t know what I was doing,”can we read in particular in the star’s book. But also : “I felt like I was living on the edge of a cliff. […] If you supported me when I couldn’t do it myself: I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

A work in which Britney Spears also looks back on her “abusive” guardianship which lasted thirteen years. A period during which her father, Jamie Spears, made all the decisions for his little girl. “I have been silenced for what seems like most of my life”, “My father wanted me to feel scared and threatened by his actions my whole life” or :“I just wanted a father who loved me exactly as I was. Someone who would tell me, ‘I will love you unconditionally,'” wrote the interpreter of Toxic.

Shocking confidences

This Tuesday, October 17, 2023, our American colleagues from PEOPLE magazine shared other extracts from the star’s autobiographical book, including one which illustrates the pressure that Britney Spears’ father exerted on his daughter: “If I thought it was a bad thing to be criticized in the press about my body, it hurt even more from my own father. He told me repeatedly that I had “I looked fat and I was going to have to do something.”

Placed under the legal guardianship of her father in 2008 after her highly publicized descent into hell, Britney Spears regained her freedom in 2021 after a long legal journey.
