“He is very impressive” – Marie-Philip Poulin

Star women’s hockey player and Montreal Canadiens player development consultant Marie-Philip Poulin had a lot of praise for the Habs’ most recent first-round draft pick, David Reinbacher.

She was impressed with how the 18-year-old defender adapted as development camp progressed.

“He is very impressive. This guy just got drafted and he got a lot of backlash. To see him evolve in the last three days…I think he had more confidence after the second and third day. He will be back home and he will definitely train even harder,” she said Tuesday during a press briefing on the sidelines of the last day of development camp.

Poulin also enjoyed rubbing shoulders with the Austrian because of his good personality.

“He always has a little smile and you can see he loves what he does. Even though the first day was intimidating for him, he adapted really well afterwards. He has a very nice personality and he is also a very good hockey player.

Lane Hutson will continue to improve, says Poulin

The selection of the second round of the CH in 2022 Lane Hutson has also managed to impress the triple gold medalist at the Olympic Games.

“We are all aware of seeing all the little plays he can make on the ice. I think going back to college for a second year will allow him to improve and on the defensive side, it’s something we watch a lot. He has a lot of talent offensively and you see what he can show on the ice,” Poulin said of the 19-year-old fullback.

Interestingly, Hutson plays with the Boston University Terriers, the same school where the Beauceronne played from 2010 to 2015.

Performance of other prospects

In addition to the two defenders, the 32-year-old was also pleased to see the progress of some of the organization’s hopefuls.

“There are several players who have stood out in camp. It’s really impressive to see their speed and how they play. It was very nice to see Logan Mailloux evolve at camp. You see a guy like Joshua Roy still getting better. It has a little more grits and it’s always nice to see him a bit more intense in battles.”
