He hits and strangles his wife in a car in the Dordogne, a passerby intervenes

A new mention has been added to his already well-filled criminal record. A 37-year-old man was sentenced to two years in prison on Friday July 22 by the Périgueux court. Last Tuesday, he hit and strangled his ex-girlfriend in a car in Périgueux, a district of Toulon.

A passerby intervenes

It is a life assistant who works next door who alerts the police. Tuesday, July 19, she heard honking and saw a woman lying on the driver’s side of a car. The man sitting next to her punches her in the face. The passer-by intervenes, she opens the door and tries to get the victim out before the police arrive. The woman has red marks on her neck and face.. When she was heard by the police, she indicated that she had received a blow to the temple, the arm of her glasses had sunk into the arch, which explains the traces.

38 mentions on his record

At the hearing, the defendant denied the facts. He explains that they had made an appointment so that he could get some papers, and that an argument broke out. In police custody, he told investigators that the marks on his ex-girlfriend’s face are certainly traces of makeup. “We were in a Clio, we get confused and it’s 40 degrees”he said. “She is pregnant, in no case did I touch her, I took off her sunglasses to see her eyes, it must have hurt her”, he said. His lawyer recalls that the victim did not file a complaint.

The man already has 38 convictions on his record, including 17 for violence and three for spousal abuse. “It hurts my head to go to prison for things like that”sighs the defendant. “I don’t see what we can do. We can simply punish and say, no, we don’t hit his wife. At some point you have to say to yourself that as long as the gentleman is in detention, his partner or ex-partner is protected”, gets carried away the prosecutor. The court follows his requisitions, since the thirty-something is sentenced to two years in prison, with continued detention.
