A tourist visiting Las Vegas earlier this summer had a watch worth US$35,000 (about C$45,500) stolen from his hotel room by a ‘prostitute’ he had invited to ‘sleep’ with him. him, reports the Daily Mail.
The man who was staying at the Cosmopolitan was allegedly approached by two women while he was at the casino. These would have told him that they were tired; he therefore claims to have taken pity on them and gave them permission to go and rest in his room.
The latter later told the police that he knew they were probably sex workers, but that he was not interested in their services.
The man would have stayed in the casino for a while while the two women were in his room, before going up and going to bed in turn.
When he woke up the next morning, he discovered that one of the two women had disappeared, his suitcase had been knocked over and his Rolex watch had been stolen. The other woman, who was still present, claimed to have nothing to do with the disappearance of the watch.
The man then called the police, who, with the help of the tourist and the other woman, managed to identify and arrest the alleged thief. This is Deonna McCray, 32, from Los Angeles.
The latter was already known to the Las Vegas police because of other thefts of watches and money committed in recent months. She had also received a sentence of one year of probation during which the judge had told her to keep quiet and not to return to the Strip area in Las Vegas.
