“He experienced a violent emotional lift”declared Thursday March 2 on franceinfo Blandine Brière, sister of Benjamin Brière, still imprisoned in Iran despite his acquittal of all charges of espionage on appeal two weeks ago.

After the acquittal, the Court ordered on February 17 “his immediate release”but the Frenchman, detained since May 2020 and on hunger strike since January 28, “was not released by the Revolutionary Guards who keep him imprisoned”according to his French lawyer Me Philippe Valent.

“He is in the most total disarray. Faced with such a turnaround, we are all in awe.”

According to her, the hunger strike that Benjamin Brière started on January 28 “completely weakened” : “He spends most of his day lying down, he lives in unsanitary conditions, he is not free to tell us what he wants from what he sees. The more the days pass, the more we fear for his recovery. future.”

“We are in something that has never been seen: a decision rendered that is not applied”adds the inmate’s sister, who speaks of a “unreal situation”.
