“He didn’t grope her!”, Adriana Karembeu and Jamel Debbouze heckled on the set of “TPMP People”!

It’s an unlikely duo that no one has forgotten! In 1999, then at the height of his popularity, Jamel Debbouze was invited to present a César on stage in the company of the superb Slovak top model Adriana Karembeu, freshly married to the famous footballer. Between them, a difference in size immediately makes you smile, of course… Jumping on the comic effect, the comedian immediately chained the jokes. “Are you the wife of… Zinedine Zidane?”, he begins, before she whispers her husband’s first name. Jamel continues on the size of his legs, “Is it true that they are 1m24? If my legs were 1m24, they would come to my throat…!”he launches in front of a hilarious audience and to launch this joke that we all remember: Monsieur and Madame Karembeu have a son, what is his name? 6 times 7, because 6 times 7 Karembeu!”. An excerpt that is one of the César best-ofs… but not for Adriana Karembeu!

“I didn’t know who Jamel was and I didn’t speak French”

Invited on Saturday, June 3, 2023 in the show What an era! son France 2, the emblematic ambassador of the Red Cross since the 2000s, indeed explained during the show to have “suffered” at this moment. “I suffered because it was improvised, I didn’t know who Jamel was and I didn’t speak French”, she justified herself. It must be said that she had just arrived from Slovakia, her country of origin. She even confided that today, more than 24 years after this extract, she continues to “receiving messages asking ‘But your name isn’t 42?’“.”It was difficult for me to capture the essence of the joke“, she concluded with a smile. A discomfort experienced by the model which was at the heart of the debate of the TPMP People of this Saturday, June 10.

Cash, Francesca Antoniotti affirms it straight out: “it was not at all a misogynistic attack on Jamel’s part… but to say that she experienced it badly, that’s fine he didn’t grope her either!” she lets go before the discussion is temporized by Laurent Fontaine who rectifies: “no no, the evil experienced is what we say today, she said it at Léa Salamé, she did not understand the jokes…” And indeed, the beautiful blonde had just arrived from Slovakia and had not yet mastered the language of Molière. And this César evening has nothing to do, as Isabelle Morini-Bosc wisely reminds us, with that of the “Crystal Globes” presented in 2009 where Jean-Luc Delarue wanted to be humorous by proposing to the winner Yamina Benguigui to wear her award, her “World (of crystal)”, or “his orbs”, in reference to the director’s chest… which deeply shocked public opinion.
