Finding his son at 40 may seem strange… However, this is indeed the situation that Henri Salvador was able to experience when he found Jean-Marie Périer, his biological son. Catherine Costa, widow of the artist, returned to these “reunions” in the columns of the Journal du Dimanche last June. “Henri and Jean-Marie did not meet until late, in the early 1980s, in Los Angeles. Henri was in his sixties, he was very clumsy”first explained the widow of the musician before adding: “A 40-year-old kid, he didn’t know how it worked, let alone missing the start. He crushed his modesty under his ribald musician humor by offering Jean-Marie to go see a porn movie…” A choice that did not really bring the artist and his son closer…
A few years later, Jean-Marie Périer returned to the relationship he had had with his biological father in an interview with Jordan De Luxe. The photographer and great friend of Françoise Hardy does not seem to keep only good memories of her relationship with him, according to the revelations he made to the journalist. According to him, he would have behaved very badly with his children but did not wish to expand on the subject for a specific reason: “iI no longer pronounce the name of Henri Salvador! He didn’t behave well with my children! Let’s not talk about it ! I hate people who get revenge, so I don’t talk about it anymore!”he confessed at first before letting go: “If I couldn’t talk about my life anymore, I would! Now it’s ok… If I hadn’t met this man, I would have been a musician. Because of him, I became a failed musician”. Jean-Marie Périer seems to have a lot on the heart and there is no doubt that many reasons explain this resentment.
