“Haydn Symphonies”, Derek Solomons and L’Estro Armonico

One of the greatest editorial mysteries of the last 35 years is the total lack of awareness with which this series of Symphoniesin particular the phase “ Sturm und Drang » by Haydn, who marked the beginning of the 1980s and revolutionized our sound and musical perspectives on this repertoire. It was at the time (with the rustic Collegium Aureum) the first Haydn on old instruments with gut strings and reduced numbers. But the first recordings were analog, the later digital and no one knew how to sell them. The 49 recorded symphonies became impossible to find following the acquisition of CBS by Sony (1988). The shock today is less, since we have now become accustomed to these sounds, but everything fits together among these pioneers, where in the only violin desk rubbed shoulders with Roy Goodman, Pavlo Beznoziuk, Monica Huggett, Elizabeth Wallfisch, Catherine Macintosh and I pass. Historical box set in the full sense of the term, long-awaited compilation. Too bad the period covers are missing.
