Watch out for violent gusts. The department of Haute-Corse is placed on orange alert to strong winds, announced Météo France, Sunday February 6. The alert is maintained on Monday. Strong winds have been affecting Haute-Corse since 5 am. “The peak of wind is expected in the morning of Monday, the violent gusts are then likely to reach the city of Bastia”, indicates the report of Météo France.

“The violent wind episode is in place: we have already observed in recent hours 152 km / h on Île Rousse, 197 km / h in Cagnano, particularly exposed sites and 125 km / h in Calacuccia”specifies Météo France on its site Monday morning. According to forecasters, thehe maximum gusts expected are around 110 to 120 km/h on the Balagne coast, 120 to 130 km/h in the Bastia region, 130 to 150 km/h in Cap Corse and more than 170 around Cagnano.
