The COVID-19 pandemic would thus reinforce tensions between Quebecers and harm the job market, in particular because it would exacerbate the labor shortage.
“The population is increasingly polarized. This polarization can divide a society and there will be better entrepreneurs and less good entrepreneurs, better employees and less good employees, ”underlined Karl Blackburn, president of the Quebec Employers Council, in an interview Friday on LCN.
The Employers Council argued that the polarization of society pushes to make differences between the profiles of workers, which feeds the labor shortage and has a direct impact on the economy.
“In terms of the labor shortage, when we want to make more room for minorities, LGBT + people, women, people with disabilities, First Nations, immigrants, sometimes with certain perceptions more negative, it is more complicated, it is more worrying, ”added Mr. Blackburn.
