Rafaël Harvey-Pinard made many eyes widen during his last stay with the Canadian. Recalled to compensate for the numerous injuries, the 24-year-old striker has not only collected points in the statistics column. He also did so with supporters and members of the organization.
Free agent with restriction, Harvey-Pinard wishes to have distinguished himself enough to obtain a contract which will allow him to remain with the big club. This is what he said to Log when we met him on the sidelines of a promotional activity for the Canadian Grand Prix.
“There are discussions, but for the moment, there is nothing done, he declared to the author of these lines. Of course my goal is to sign with the Canadiens. I want to play with the Canadiens next year.”

For each of his first two professional campaigns, the choice of 7e round of the Canadian in 2019 touched $825,000. It will be interesting to see what strategy his agent adopts.
He will probably want his client to put his name on the bottom of a short-term contract that would allow him, if he continues the same progression curve, to maximize his earnings in his next contract. For Kent Hughes, however, the goal will be to secure Harvey-Pinard’s services for the long term at a lower cost.
“We will go with what is best for both parties. Both for the team and for me,” was content to say Harvey-Pinard, not wanting to reveal too much.
Even though he only played 34 games, he hit the target 14 times. Only Cole Caufield (26), Nick Suzuki (26) and Josh Anderson (21) have done better for the Canadian.
Beyond the figures, he has proven that he is inhabited by a very high spirit of competition and that he does not hesitate to sacrifice himself for the cause.
In recent weeks, Harvey-Pinard has changed agents, enlisting the services of Philippe Lecavalier. This is likely to greatly favor the channel of communication with Hughes, a great friend of the family.
