A few weeks before the coronation of Charles III, the festivities and other events celebrating this accession to the throne became clearer.
Despite the outbreak of many scandals, especially with the release of the documentary on Netflix and the long-awaited book by Prince Harry The Alternatethe crown still hopes that this celebration will take place under the best auspices, with or without Harry and Meghan.
A historic and festive weekend
The coronation of Charles III and his wife Camilla will take place on Saturday May 6 at Westminster Abbey, London. But after the various obligations, place to the festivities!
Indeed, the events will extend over three days (from May 6th to 8th) throughout the United Kingdom and the member countries of the Commonwealth. On Sunday 7 May, a spectacular concert at Windsor Castle will be staged and broadcast live by the BBC. Thanks to a ballot organized by the BBC, several thousand people will be selected to receive free tickets for the concert. For the moment, we do not yet know the names of the artists who will perform but one thing is certain: it will bring together icons of international music and contemporary stars.
Did you know ? Monday, May 8 was proclaimed a holiday by the British Prime Minister, to give the opportunity to the English to come together for this event.
A playlist already available on Spotify
The British Department of Culture, Media and Sport has unveiled the official playlist on Spotify that will accompany this unique event.
This playlist includes a total of 27 tracks. A list that highlights British artists, with legendary songs such as let’s dance by David Bowie, We are the Champions of the group Queen or even come together of the Beatles.
But this playlist also includes newer tracks, like Treat People With Kindness by Harry Styles, A sky full of Stars from Coldplay or even Celestial by Ed Sheeran. Without forgetting the title of Kate Bush Running up that Hillwhich has become fashionable again since its passage in the series Stranger Things on Netflix.
Tom Jones, the Spice Girls or the Pet Shop Boys complete this musical selection, which ends with the song King Years & Years.
And then, what better way to celebrate this coronation than joy, music and good humor?
Did you know ? Initially, the playlist was to feature the music “Dance Wiv Me” by Dizze Rascal. This idea was abandoned, because the artist was convicted of assaulting his ex-fiancée.
