Harassment: Sophie Tissier accuses Eric Coquerel of inappropriate gestures

She is one of the women who testified against Éric Coquerel. Sophie Tissier figure of the Yellow Vests and former close to the Left Party. Sunday morning, the activist announced that she had seized the committee against sexist and sexual violence in rebellious France. “Little by little, there were inappropriate gestures. Wandering hands, taking hold of the waist, getting closer to me, sticking to me. When I told him, he continued”. These facts would have taken place during a party in 2014.

The interested party, Éric Coquerel, deputy of rebellious France and new president of the influential finance committee at the National Assembly, denies these accusations: “I do not deny having danced with her, but what I absolutely deny, c “It’s all that could be related to inappropriate gestures. Gestures, let’s say, of aggressive flirting even if you want. I contradicted him, the witnesses too”.

Among the witnesses, precisely, it is also word against word. For example Tatiana Ventôse, co-founder of a political analysis YouTube channel, supports the statements of Sophie Tissier as a direct witness. Marie-Laure Darrigade, candidate of rebellious France for the European elections of 2019, meanwhile, contradicts this version.

For her part, the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet calls for letting justice play its role: “The possibilities of investigating belong only to justice. I am always surprised when we try to make trials, either media either internally, according to rather mysterious procedures. The machine must not get carried away around rumours. Again, I invite each victim to file a complaint”. For now, Sophie Tissier has not filed a complaint. Éric Coquerel does not rule out taking legal action for defamation.
