The Stade niçois did not have the gnaque in Cognac and leaves with a defeat which is a task in National rugby. Beaten 29-24 on the lawn of the last of the championship, the Stade niçois pockets a defensive bonus point which will not console the Rouge et Noir, as victory seemed so obvious at the break.
Too many mistakes!
The first period was one-sided for the Riviera rugby players with two tries by Martin Freytes (4th) then Slowik (20th) to allow the people of Nice to lead 15-8 at the break. Corn the locals will gradually come back to the score by chaining the penalties (17-18 per hour of play). Until passing in front of the visitors five minutes from time with a seventh then an eighth penalty (29 -24 / 79th)! Too undisciplined the people of Nice have fallen into the trap of Cognac and can bite their fingers.
A Top 6 not threatened
David Bolgashvili’s Men remain 6th with a still comfortable lead over Blagnac (10 points ahead), beaten on Saturday at home by Soyaux-Angoulême, and should play well in the final stages. But we will have to do better to access the Pro D2!
