Canadian Camryn Rogers won the gold medal in the women’s hammer throw on Tuesday at the Paris Olympics, following in the footsteps of fellow Canadian Ethan Katzberg, who won the men’s event two days earlier.
Rogers, the event’s favourite, took gold by throwing the hammer 76.97 metres on her fifth throw.
She thus managed to impose herself ahead of the American Annette Nneka Echukunwoke, who recorded her best result of the season with a throw of 75.48 m on her third attempt.
China’s Jie Zhao (74.27m) won the bronze medal.
More details to come.
