(Hamburg) Favorite Carlos Alcaraz defeated Filip Krajinovic 7-6 (4) 6-3 on Thursday to reach the quarter-finals at the Hamburg Open.

Alcaraz saved four set points at 4-5 in the first set, before winning the last five points of the deadlock.
He improved to 22-2 on clay this season, including title wins in Rio, Barcelona and Madrid.
The 19-year-old Spaniard’s next rival will be Karen Khachanov, who edged out Fabio Fognini 6-3, 7-5.
Francisco Cerundolo, 30e at ATP, upset number 8 Andrey Rublev 6-4 and 6-2.
Cerundolo is coming off his first career title in Bastad, Sweden.
His next opponent will be Russian Aslan Karatsev, who won 3-6, 6-3 and 6-4 against Daniel Elahi Galán.
On the women’s side, favorite Anett Kontaveit advanced to the semi-finals, Andrea Petkovic retiring injured as Kontaveit led 6-0, 2-0.
It would be hip trouble.
Kontaveit will find on his way Anastasia Potapova, victorious 6-1 and 6-3 in front of the queen of Roland-Garros last year, Barbora Krejcikova.
In the other semi-final, it will be Maryna Zanevska against Bernarda Pera.
Zanevska defeated Aliaksandra Sasnovich, 6-4, 7-5, while Pera defeated Katerina Siniakova, 6-3, 6-1.
