Nothing is decided between Ajax Amsterdam and Benfica Lisbon before the second leg of the round of 16, Tuesday, March 15, in the Netherlands. The two teams having drawn in the first leg (2-2), and the away goal no longer being valued, the winner of this return match will be qualified for the rest of the Champions League. If the two teams fail to decide between them in 90 minutes, there will therefore be extra time or even a penalty shootout.

In the first round, Erik ten Hag’s players had dominated the Portuguese team but had come across a great Odysseas Vlachodimos, author of six saves. The teammates of Sébastien Haller, second top scorer in this Champions League – for his first participation – with eleven goals, start as favorites and hope to find the quarters for the second time in four years.
