Hall of Fame induction | Shea Weber to be honoured at the Bell Centre

Like Pierre Turgeon last year, Shea Weber will not have to wait long before his admission among the immortals is celebrated at the Bell Centre.

The Canadian has indeed confirmed to The Press that a “ceremony” is planned for November to mark Weber’s induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The team has not confirmed the exact date, however.

Weber will be inducted on November 11 in Toronto. However, according to an auction by the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation and unearthed by The Hockey Newsit appears that the Montreal ceremony will take place on November 16. People are indeed invited to bid on a “VIP meeting” with Weber. The prize is described as “an exclusive private meeting for four people with former Habs captain and newest member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, Shea Weber, before his on-ice ceremony at the Bell Centre on November 16, 2024.”

The Habs will be in the thick of a four-game road trip when Weber is inducted. The team will play in Toronto on Nov. 9, two days before the induction. The Nov. 16 game will be the Habs’ first home game after Weber’s induction on Yonge Street. The more mischievous among you will say that the Habs could have waited until Nov. 26, when Utah, the club that Weber now owns, will be in town.

Last year, Pierre Turgeon was honoured in Montreal on November 14, the day after his inauguration. The Habs then added him to their ring of honour in the heights of the Bell Centre.

Weber spent five of his 16 NHL seasons with the Canadiens, the other 11 with the Predators. He hasn’t played since helping the team reach the Stanley Cup Final in the summer of 2021.
