Half of Shanghai (China) has been under glass since Monday March 28. China’s economic capital is facing the worst Covid-19 outbreak in two years.

Shanghai (China) is on hold. The city has been completely deserted since Sunday March 27. Part of the city has been shut down due to an outbreak of Covid-19 cases: no traffic, factories and offices closed… Nine million of the city’s 25 million inhabitants can no longer leave their homes or residences. This is the first strict confinement in Shanghai since the start of the pandemic.

Officially, the eastern part of the city is closed until Friday, April 1. As soon as the confinement was announced at the last minute on Sunday, the inhabitants of Pudong rushed to supermarkets, open until 4 a.m. Shanghai will be confined in two stages. To the west, there is still an air of freedom. Strict confinement will begin there on Friday for 12 million inhabitants. The number of Covid-19 contaminations continues to climb. Officially, 3,500 new cases were recorded on Monday March 28.
