Montreal trio Half Moon Run releases the first single from their forthcoming album on Friday. The room You Can Let Go is revealed along with the dates for the band’s next North American tour, with scheduled stops in Montreal on December 13 and 14.
A new era begins for Half Moon Run. With the release of this new song, the group changes tone. The verses of You Can Let Go have a frenetic pace, the voice of the leader, Devon Portielje, being found more in the background. The refrain brings back the essence of the trio, its usual vocal harmonies combining with a slowed down tempo.
Directed by Connor Seidel (Matt Holubowski, Charlott Cardin, Elliot Maginot), the piece recorded at Treehouse Studio is a sonic exploration like the band had never attempted before, marked by synthesizers.
The exact release date for Half Moon Run’s fourth album has yet to be revealed, but the album is expected within the next few months.
The Montrealers’ tour will begin on the 1er next July with a few appearances at festivals, before a tour of Europe, which will be followed by a series of shows in North America. A ticket presale is scheduled for March 7, a Spotify presale will open on March 8, and the general box office will open on March 10.
Until then, the group will be performing on Saturday for the Collectif 1969 show, as part of Montréal en Lumière. Several of the artists who participated in this album released last spring will perform their songs from the disc, pieces from their repertoire and some covers. During 1969 LiveHalf Moon Run will take to the MTELUS stage in the company of Elisapie, the Boulays Sisters, Elliot Maginot, Matt Holubowski and Claudia Bouvette.
