The compilation album Yer Favorites, by Canadian group The Tragically Hip, has exceeded half a billion streams. Released in 2005, the double album will be released on vinyl on June 2.
The Tragically Hip are the first Canadian band to achieve quadruple diamond certification. Yer Favorites is the second best-selling compilation album after The Beatles 1which is no small feat.
The release of the four vinyl records (two double albums) will have 37 songs, including a complete version of the piece Fully Completely. A “deluxe” edition of the album Phantom Power (1998) will follow.
The band, which lost frontman and vocalist Gordon Downie in 2017 to brain cancer, will celebrate its 40e anniversary in 2024. To mark the occasion, The Tragically Hip will release a special version of their album Up to Here (1989). A four-part documentary will also be released on Amazon.
