Kylian Mbappé is a Real Madrid player. After months of negotiations, the club as well as the player made it official, Monday June 3, in a series of tweets, before its presentation which will take place after the Euro football (June 14-July 14). An arrival which caused the French and Spanish press to react, but also logically the international press, on Tuesday June 4.
The Team title “Hala Mbappé!” with a photo of the child player wearing a Real Madrid tracksuit, in reference to the slogan “Hala Madrid!” intoned by fans of the “White House”. “The start of a new story for the French striker who joins the club of his dreams”continues the daily.
Le Parisien, for its part, did not make its front page on it, placing a box on “The inside story of his arrival at Real Madrid”. The Ile-de-France daily, which recalled the day before in its announcement paper “the worst kept secret of recent months, perhaps even in the history of football”, speaks of a “marriage of the century” which “marks the history of French football”.
On the other side of the Pyrenees, the announcement was inevitably received with great fanfare. A.S.Madrid daily, title “Finally Mbappé”, a sign that the wait was very long until this announcement. Another leading Spanish media, Marca headlines a photomontage of the Frenchman with a Real jersey showing the crest: “What you dreamed of.” The daily itself published an ironic press review, headlined: “World earthquake: the reaction in Catalonia, in France they gave up.”
For his part, Sport didn’t make the front page on this transfer, but still found a place for it: “Madrid returns to the Galactic route: they sign Mbappé.” For his part, Mundo Deportivo recalls in passing the endless soap opera which led to the arrival of the Frenchman. “This arrival is the final chapter in a never-ending series, with unexpected plot twists more typical of Hollywood plots,” continued the media in its digital edition.
In other countries, the English press did not make much of it, often contenting itself with a factual announcement as for Sky Sports. In its digital edition, The Guardian relegated it to him among other information. On its site, the BBC emphasizes that this arrival “is likely to bring a new Galactic era to the club, given the exciting prospect of seeing him line up alongside Brazilian forwards Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Endrick, as well as England midfielder Jude Bellingham.” Finally, The Independent specifies to him that this announcement “concludes one of the longest sagas in modern football and will add even more talent to the European champions.”
In Italy, La Gazzetta dello Sport didn’t make it its front page either, preferring a box titled “Mbappé d’Or”in reference to his contract and his dream of being Ballon d’Or. “Carlo Ancelotti has an extra Galactic”supports the transalpine daily. Tuttosport he adds that the announcement caused the Madrid club’s website to crash as it was consulted in the minutes that followed. “Mbappé at Real Madrid, it’s official: the announcement crashes the site”.
In Germany, Kicker he also seems relieved: “The transfer saga is over: Mbappé joins Real Madrid”. In Portugal, In Bola reminds him of his links with national star Cristiano Ronaldo, idol of Real Madrid and who congratulated him.
