Haitian singer Mikaben dies on stage at the Accor Arena in Bercy

Invited to sing by the group Carimi, Mikaben became unwell and could not be revived. He was 41 years old.

Haitian singer Mikaben died on stage on Saturday evening October 15 at Paris-Bercy. Aged 41, he had been invited to sing by the legendary Haitian group Carimi in front of 10,000 people.

A few minutes before going on stage, images posted on social networks show that he was showing signs of fatigue. Taken from a malaise, he could not be revived by the emergency services.

“The entire Accor Arena team is terribly affected and sends all its support to his family and loved ones in this painful ordeal”, writes Sunday October 16 the Accor Arena of Paris-Bercy on Twitter.

The Prime Minister of Haiti also reacted immediately to the announcement of the death of Michael Benjamin. “The country and the Haitian youth have lost a beautiful soul”writes Ariel Henry on Twitter. “It’s a great reference of Haitian music that has just died out.”
