Hail Bitch: Misogyny in the Digital Age, by Léa Clermont-Dion and Guylaine Maroist, continues to shine outside Quebec. While it is still in theaters in France, the documentary film is making its debut in the United States this week.
Titled Backlash: Misogyny in the Digital Agethe English version will have its American premiere at the United Nations Association Film Festival this Thursday at Stanford University.
With the support of Barbra Streisand’s foundation, the documentary will then premiere on November 2 at the University of California, Los Angeles. In a press release, the artist and activist is concerned about the negative impact of social networks.
“This documentary never ceases to surprise us with the way it makes its way. Every time the film is shown somewhere, we receive requests for new screenings. It’s the snowball effect,” rejoices director Guylaine Maroist, in the same document.
Released in September 2022 in Quebec, I salute you bitch follows four women whose lives have been turned upside down by episodes of sexist cyberharassment.
To date, the feature film has been screened in around twenty countries.
