The Quebecer completed the event with a score of 13.199 after his two runs on the device, experiencing some difficulties during landings.

He was therefore unable to improve his eighth place collected during the qualifications disputed on Wednesday. Émard then obtained a score of 14.666, which allowed him to be the last gymnast to reach the final.

Filipino Carlos Edriel Yulo was crowned world champion with a score of 14.916 at the end of the event. The Japanese Hidenobu Yonekura (14.866) took second step of the podium, while the Israeli Andrey Medvedev (14.649) was decorated with bronze.

Sunday marked the end of a memorable competition for William Émard. In his world second among seniors, the 21-year-old Laval resident stood out by taking eighth place in the men’s eventing, a Canadian gymnastics record. He also became the first Canadian to take part in the individual rings final, where he placed seventh on Saturday.
